What the what?

So Saturday morning, did anyone else roll out of the sack and wonder what was going on with the weather? 70 degrees...in August...in Columbia? Sure, it was overcast, and the rain was coming, but SEVENTY? Yeah...that doesn't happen...
Rain schmain...
I missed Thursday b/c of rain. No throwing away another ride. Plus, the Boss' entire family was coming to the house for #1's b-day party, so I needed the endorphins to smooth me out for impending shit show.
Got my shit together, and by the time I threw a leg over, the rain had already begun. Fuck it...I'm already dressed...
Out 12th, looped around Eastman, back to the PowerStation...and then the rain REALLY started. Big, fat, cold drops. Honestly, it was quite nice. Certainly beat the hell out of the sun and heat trying to bore it's way thru the helmet.
Another loop thru downtown and the Northside, back up Gervais...again, and home. 2 hours on the CX bike. Wet and dirty.
Happy as a raccoon in a wheelie bin.
My CX shoes though...DAMN. Might be time to look for some new ones. Perma-stink has taken over...

Sunday, under the threat of rain, a few of us headed out for a Lex/Cal loop. It never rained, and some blue skies were even seen.
One of the regular loops was undertaken (if you want to know, come out!), and we picked up HC in Swansea.
At this point we decided to play the "Hey, were does this road go?" game, and took a turn. Found a great road that cut across the country, and came out in an expected/unexpected place. Also found another road that will be incorporated into a Sunday ride very soon. See, these things are fun!!
 See...blue sky...
Then it went away...
It was a nice 105km on a pretty nice morning.
We did get a lesson in SC Vehicle Code from a toothless redneck.
Pop Quiz : What's more dangerous?
a) Cyclists legally riding two abreast on a country road
b) Driving a 5000 pound pickup, in the wrong lane, while screaming out the window?
Did I mention that after she passed us, she ran a stop sign, then immediately turned into the gas station? Yeah...I don't really get it either...
Oh, and when the water meets the bottom of the trees, the river is HIGH...
