Breaking News

It seems our favorite thief/sociopath/all-around douchenozzle was arrested (again) for his transgressions against Cycle Center.
He was arrested and booked into the Richland County Detention Center for :

Receiving stolen goods between $1000 and $5000 (felony)*** AND
Hindering arrest (which means he resisted) (misdemeanor). Fines are between $500 and $1000 for first offense, and not more than 1 year in jail. Probation varies.

Go HERE Then type "Barnett" in the "Last Name" field.

He's still detained as of this entry with a $15k surety bond.

The victims here are numerous. Those who befriended him, and those whom he committed theft against, but the biggest victim may be his wife. She knew NOTHING of what has been going on for months. The fact that she didn't bond him out speaks volumes...

Good riddance Ted. It wasn't nice knowing you!

*** RSG Law :

Receiving Stolen Goods
S. C. Code § 16-13-180

Receiving Stolen Goods is either a misdemeanor or a felony depending on the value of the goods involved. Misdemeanor Receiving Stolen Goods involves goods under $1,000 and is prosecuted in the Magistrate Court usually by the arresting officer. Felony Receiving Stolen Goods involves goods valued at more than $1,000 and is prosecuted in the Court of General Sessions by the Solicitor's Office. Misdemeanor Receiving Stolen Goods is punishable by up to thirty days imprisonment, and Felony Receiving Stolen Goods is punishable by up to ten years imprisonment.

Actually his wife really isn't a victim, this will be his third arrest for stealing from a bike shop. The first dates back to 2007 when he stole from an Orlando, FL area shop (I was the one who busted him) then a while later stole from a shop somewhere on the east coast of FL. His wife knew what she was getting into when she married him.

His wife new what was up. He's been arrested twice before for the same things. He's a con artist, sociopath. She knew what she was getting into.

She may have known about those incidents, but I can tell you, she didn't know about this one.
I've been told that her demeanor, as she sat in the waiting area of RCDC yesterday was less than cordial.
It was said that she was blind-sided by this episode.
He was kicked off of his team in Tennessee as well.
She should run, fast and far, from that dude!

Maybe she's finally realizing that he will never change. The first incident happened before they got married...so she was pretty dumb for even staying with Ted. I've known him since college and he has always been this way, his former employer before he started at my old shop suspected him of stealing and I know a few people on the Ultimate Frisbee team he was on had some issues with him mismanaging their money. I'm really glad that he may actually be spending sometime in jail for once.

He bonded out @ 2pm today. The charges in SC carry pretty substantial penalties. He'll likely plea down, but I'm betting he goes to jail, as it isn't his first time at the felony theft rodeo. A 6 foot tall, skinny dude with shaved legs is gonna be a hit in the joint!
He was trying to put a 'team' together here, and was making the effort to talk the potential sponsor into writing the check to HIM, as opposed to the team. I believe it was around $8k !!!
